I like it very much. Especially the feeling in the hands, no too smooth, more alive. It is a bit on the lite side, which makes it faster. How heavy is your grade 7?
I'm not sure how heavy mine is. I'll have to weigh it. I'm thinking about getting one of his one-of-a-kind bokkens, too, although I can't imagine it being that much better. A friend of mine has a Kingfisher bokken with different colors. I slightly prefer the way his handle fits my hand, but it is an infinitesimal difference. I bought him a Kingfisher jo (he was my uke in my shodan test) and it's beautiful, too, of course. We got 54"
The 'one-of-kind' may be very different. Some of them are much heavier then the standard ones which makes a world of diffrerence. I also have their jo, and I think it is too light. A Japanese jo that have is a centimeter longer and somewhat wider then the Kingfisher which makes for a much more challenging training.
They made a suburito, or tanrenken, for me, but it's much bigger and heavier than all the ones that I've seen from Japan. It gets progressively wider and thicker towards the end, and can be very awkward and challenging to use.
He also made me a tanto, but in the Iwama style. I'm thinking about getting another jo, but this time a 56" (I'm 6', and wouldn't mind a little more length).
